Noo! Close your toilet lid! A) So many things I've knocked off counters and into the toilet. So many things. But more importantly (and terrifying) B) RATS/MICE CAN GET IN YOUR SEPTIC TANK AND COME UP THROUGH YOUR TOILET! This is totally real, I swear to god just google rats in toilet. Keep the lid down, keep them contained. I know I sound insane, but it totally happens to people. The author, Augusten Burroughs even wrote a short story about when it happened to him.

The “don’t close your lid” was in response to a follower who linked me to several commercial cleaning products’ sites, saying not to close the lid when you have cleaner in the bowl.
I’ve closed my lid with cleaner for years without incident, but I don’t want to be recommending off-label usage to people. Use your best judgment.
