Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

Today was mucking out the goat pen, which involved three hours of cleaning this:

There was a pitchfork, garden shovel, rake, manure shovel, and pickup truck involved.

2.5 to 3 hours of loading soiled, ammonia-laiden hay into the back of the truck, dust flying all around us, hauling it to the fire pit, forking it back out of the truck, and spreading it over the pre-laid-out landscaping fabric.  We took up three loads, but it barely looked like it made a dent in the pole barn.  We have plenty of free mulch to haul tomorrow, though, and with this year being dry, we most likely won’t be able to use the firepit anyhow.  So, might as well landscape with what we have.

The final result?

I cleaned out the garden last week, moved the firewood (all the plywood on the left and stacks of wood in the mid-ground), and laid out the landscaping fabric.  You can see the grey edging on the left and a slight continuance on the top layer/right where the woodpile(s) are, keeping the fabric laid down.  But most of it is in a horseshoe around the firepit; one can see the cat, just superior to the right-hand buckets, for a suggestion of scale.

Tomorrow?  More of the same, unless I get a wild hair to plant in the garden or clean inside the house.  We’ll see what happens.

I think this is our very first barnyard unfucking!
