Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

There's a really nasty ammonia smell in my living room and I cannot for the life of me find the source. My dog had a couple of accidents on the carpet before she was pottytrained, but I spot cleaned them very well months ago when they happened, and she hasn't had any recent accidents. I washed the couch cover and the baby swing cover, I opened all the doors and windows, and I re-spot cleaned the dog pee spots with enzyme-y pet cleaner, but I still smell it! What will make it go away?

Sounds like it may be hidden pee. Do yourself a favor and get a handheld blacklight (they usually have these at pet supply stores, but please don’t give your money to stores that actually sell animals, please and thank you), and see if you can find the source of the problem. Once you’ve located it, saturate the spot with Nature’s Miracle or another enzyme cleaner and let it air dry. Don’t forget that anything on carpet may have soaked down to the pad or subflooring.
