I left a damp cast-iron pan on the counter for several days and it left a rust stain on the counter. (Dumb.) The counter surface might be a sort of laminate; whatever it is, it seems really absorbent and there are various other stains in it. Can you tell me how to get that stubborn rust stain up?

CLR (calcium, lime, and rust) remover should work on this. You may need to let it sit. Bar Keepers Friend or Comet might do the trick, too. Rust can be really stubborn, though, so it may require a little patience.
