Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

So, I’m going to start trying to blog more of these, in the hopes that it makes me actually do some proper unfucking.

The first three before/afters are from last weekend. I was sat on Tumblr while I waited for a tart to finish baking when I saw your weekend challenge to take one 20/10 and go sort out the floordrobe/over-flowing laundry hamper situation. Now I don’t normally do the proper challenges, but I checked the timer on the oven and I had 20 minutes left, so I thought fuck it, it’s a start.

Then the final two pictures are from today. I’d been feeling pretty crappy all day from a depressed lack of energy and period pains (thanks womb!), but I wanted to do something to make the day worth while. The top of my dresser had been in that state for probably about two years now. It was a tangled mess of fuckery that I had been ignoring for a long time, so it made quite a neat self-contained project. It took most of the afternoon to sort out, although I didn’t do proper 20/10s or 45/15s but rather just tidied until I felt a natural pause then took a break and chilled out on the bed until I felt ready to go again.

There’s still stuff there that doesn’t belong, stuff that should be put away in drawers, but I need to unfuck the drawers before that can happen. I also want to get rid of the jewellery box I have and replace it with an open stand because I know from years of experience that I will both not put anything back in there after wearing it, and that I won’t wear anything that’s in there because it’s hidden and I forget it exists. An open stand will solve both those problems, but the box will do for now.
