I glanced through the dishes tag and didn't see anything that would help me - I'm having two issues with using my dishwasher to wash my dishes. The first one is that the dishes often aren't getting clean (or they are coated with sediment or food particles after it runs, especially the top rack). Other dishes are becoming stained/discolored and/or pitted as a result of multiple washings. We've had someone out to look at the dishwasher and they said it was fine. Any suggestions?

  1. Have someone else look at it. Something’s not right.
  2. Wash your dishes by hand.
  3. You can clean your dishwasher by running it empty with a bowl of vinegar on the top shelf, but it sounds like your issues are beyond mineral deposits.
