So we have ants. They're not the bitey kind, thank god. But they live in our bathroom and as we don't keep our food where we shit, I must conclude that they are eating us. Well, eating our dead skin and organic matter and shit (literally). Is... is this possible? Please tell me I'm wrong. Any advice?

If you can find where they are getting in, get some chalk and draw a big circle around their entry. The chalk confuses their signals, and also can be harmful to them, so if you make a nice thick line, it may stop them from coming in at all.

When we had ants for months, we used baby powder to make lines around the perimeter of where they were coming into the bathroom. It would keep them away until they found a new opening. I heard Terro is good too.

If you know where they’re coming into the house, dryer sheets at their entrance can help keep them out. I’ve also found that spray cleaner used on their trail confuses them, so that might help. If there’s a nest in your bathroom, I have no advice. :)

Could just as easily be carpenter ants. Try catching one in a plastic bag or pill bottle with a cotton ball soaked in rubbing alcohol. It will die intact, and you/an exterminator can identify it and proceed accordingly.

I’ll third Terro. It’s basically just corn syrup and Borax. After you put out the bait, you’ll have a ton of ants and another ton and all of a sudden, no ants because they’ll all be dead, mwah haha.

cinnamon or nutmeg produce a barrier that ants won’t cross. Be wary with nutmeg — it makes a gas that can give you a headache.
Diatomaceous earth and borax/boric acid will get taken back to the nest and kill them. Borax is poisonous to pets though.

Terro traps. Put them along the wall near where they’re getting in. Unless you have pets, in which case you have to keep the door closed so they don’t mess with them. An exterminator once told me to use vinegar to destroy the trail they follow.

Same ants, like carpenter ants, are drawn to moisture. Run the fan in your bathroom if you have one and pick-up Ant B Gone, the liquid stuff. Takes a few days to work but it’s great.

We managed an apartment complex and had one apartment with ants in a hall in a closet farthest from the food. And the exterminator basically told us it was because they were nesting under the concrete slab. They’ll nest where it’s cool and moist.

It’s possible they are eating beauty products or medication. Lots of them are made with sugar and other food-based products.
