I have a front loading washing machine, so how would I do the vinegar trick? Would I toss it in the bleach thing or just directly into the machine itself? I don't want to mess up my machine since it's pretty expensive, but it's begun to develop that funky machine smell and I'd like to rectify that.

Or use vinegar to completely replace fabric softener, which is what I do, so just use the softener dispenser. :)

One thing you can do to prevent the funky machine smell is to leave the machine door open when you’re not using the machine. It’ll dry out inside instead of the little bit of leftover water sitting in there and getting all funky.

I actually add it over the detergent, i.e. in the detergent receptacle. Works great.

Make sure to clean inside the door seal as well! That’s where mine always gets the funkiest, since it doesn’t drain as well as the rest of the washer.
