Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

Dear Unfuck Your Habitat:

I love you.  You’ve helped me immensely.  But I feel I have something to say.

I’m really, really bad when it comes to people telling me “do this now.”  Maybe some psychological childhood thing blah blah blah whatever who cares, but if anyone tries to give me “terrifying motivation” I tell them to get stuffed.

Also, I’ve been a lifelong slob.  I joke that “I feel most secure surrounded by my own spoor.”  I know I’m lazy, I know it’s not an excuse. Whatever.

I’m not going to buy your app or do your challenges because I respond poorly to that kind of time-dependent goading.  However, I follow your tumblr, I read through all the archives, and slowly, day by day, I’ve found myself using your principles to start unfucking. On my own time, in my own way.  I look around and think, there’s something I can do, and not immediately but within that same day, I  do a 20/10 or two.

UFYH emphasizes do it now now now, but I am here to say that even if you don’t (won’t) do it now, you can still do it.  I wanted to mention that because there are probably plenty of people like me out there. I want to remind them that even if they don’t do challenges or “get off their asses” right at this exact moment, unfucking is still possible. On your own terms, in your own way, in your own time.

Anyway, thanks again.

I do emphasize “do it now,” but I also emphasize “do what you can.” Not every part of every system is right for everyone, so I’m glad you’ve found the parts of UfYH that work for you and can modify them so they’re effective for your situation. Congratulations on the unfucking! Keep it up.
