Hello.  My name is K, and I am a yarn hoarder.

It’s not a big surprise, because I’m a handspinner (among other things), but yeah.  In an 1800s.f. house, with two other people amassing their “collections”, it’s a problem.

One of the places I like to knit and crochet is in the living room section of the downstairs.  (Our house has a “great room” on the first floor - living room, piano studio, dining room and kitchen are all in the same place.)  The fireplace was once plumbed for gas, and we’ve since had that all removed.  Instead of a fireplace, we had this:

Yep.  Right next to the couch.  The giant lump behind the bass guitar was my “project basket”.  It’s in quotes because it held both my needle projects and yarn for roughly the next dozen projects lined up.

I’ve always had a problem with cleaning.  My family had huge marathon weekend cleaning sessions when I was a kid.  Between that and my struggles with depression, it’s not been easy.

Then I found Unfuck Your Habitat.  I found out that I don’t have to spend the entire day cleaning and feeling overwhelmed at how much there is to do.  With 20/10s (work for 20 min., take a 10 min. break, repeat until done), it’s something I can do.

4 20/10s later, it looks like this:

Not a whole lot different, but a damn side better than it was.  Plus I can practice or spin or do whatever the hell I want guilt-free.  At least for today.  Thanks, UfYH!
