Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

Dear Team UFYH, you’re my favorite hive mind on Tumblr, and I have another question. <3

The Setup: My grandparents are coming to visit tomorrow. (ALL THE WAY FROM WISCONSIN HEEEE~<3) I’m going to the Dollar Tree today when I get paid, and my goal is to spend absolutely as little as possible, because, um, rent. T_T

I still have some cleaning to do, mostly the tile parts of our apartment. (About half of our apartment.) Some of the tile is grungier than others, and it’s a sort of off-white (except in the kitchen and bathroom, where it alternates between off-white and a sort of warm beige). Here, have some representative samples from the floor:

The Question: Would it be better to get a couple extra magic erasers and just scrub the tile, or could I get it clean with a sponge mop and some hot water solution? If water solution: what should go in it? My guess would be the usual (little bit of dawn, vinegar, and hot water), but I’ve never really been good at mopping the floors, except when we have company.

I have a dry Swiffer that I occasionally use wet fabric pads with, but clearly, it’s not the most effective thing ever. (I bought it at our last apartment when our only tile was a galley kitchen and a small bathroom, and even then it really wasn’t all that effective. Someday, in my fantasy land, I will have a steam mop. <3)

Thank you, Team! <3

I’d say Cinderella-style scrubbing this once, and then sponge mop with hot/boiling water to keep it clean as maintenance in the future.
