Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

UfYH, I'm getting pretty good about keeping my room and my kitchen unfucked, but I have a shed in my backyard I want to be able to use (for gardening supplies, etc.) Luckily there's not much clutter, since it's been unused since we moved in, but it's absolutely filthy. I've never undertaken a cleaning project of this magnitude before; where do I start? (Okay, I guess how do I continue is more accurate, since I've already started by swiping the worst of the cobwebs away.)

Do you have a leaf blower? If not, can you borrow one? Eye protection, dust mask, and then wind tunnel that shit out of there. An air compressor is even better, but only freaks like me have those, I think. Once the loose stuff is gone, you can go to town with a broom and a still-bristled brush and do a deep sweep.

Dust! The dust is killing my allergies, i cleaned a little and i can barely breathe! What can i do? I really need to dust.

  • Wear a dust mask and glasses/goggles if you can.
  • Open your windows.
  • Try using the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner if you have one.
  • Dust with a damp cloth so that the dust doesn’t get recirculated into the air.

I'm about to clean an extremely dusty room and am hoping for some tips. I end up sneezing constantly -- every couple seconds and sometimes to the point of nose bleeds. I try to use a damp cloth, take allergy meds, wear a mask, etc. but it doesn't help much. I never seem to get all the dust before it's in the air! I can't avoid the project, but I'm dreading how it will make me feel. Do you have any tips on how reduce the dust in the air when I'm moving things around?

Well, my first three suggestions would be damp cloth, allergy meds, and wear a mask. I don’t think it’s possible to get all of the dust before it gets into the air. Vacuuming helps, if your vacuum has a good filter. A fan set up in the window as an exhaust fan might help get what’s in the air out faster.

Have you tried a HEPA air filter full-time in the room so the dust problem doesn’t get to this point?
