I have an old suitcase that the zipper busted out on last fall or so.
It has spent an embarrassingly long time hanging out on my side of the bedroom, as I knew I would find a use for it.
I contemplated turning it into a planter, but a couple of days ago, came across the idea of using vintage suitcases as a cat bed (featured via storagegeek here). Except that … I don’t have two cats, I just gave away my “vintage” (ie, 1980s) suitcase, and, well, I had this busted one righ’chere.
Cut the hinge apart, threw in an extra pillow with pillowcase, rolled up an extra towel to tuck around the edges, and voila!
Bonus: easy to launder and cost was … um, fuck-all. The towel’s a little stained, so it was already slated for garage/manky use, we have tons of extra pillowcases, and plenty of pillows. Total time invested? Maaayyyybe 10 minutes? Certainly less than 20.
I stuck it under my computer desk, where the cat likes to lay. He started using it this afternoon.
WIN!
