I'm moving into a new apartment on June 1st in a city 3 hours away from my current home. Any suggestions on how to ease the transition in terms of packing and transporting my stuff? I have an unlimited supply of boxes from my work but the problem is my furniture. I have a huge sectional couch. It's ugly, it's bulky and I have no idea how to pack a van or trailer around this thing. Also, I have no idea how to plan my packing so it's not last minute. Help me, UFYH. You're my only hope.

Common wisdom is that big, heavy things like couches should go along the long sides of the moving truck, and be put in first, covered with a tarp or furniture cover, and then everything else gets packed around it.
