My dearly departed feline recently passed from old age and as he declined he had trouble making it to the litter box.

Now the cat pee corner is mocking me. After research on UfYH, I learned I was part of Team Cat Pee! Yeah Team!  (I’m sure the mistress of UfYH will be VERY happy I didn’t post an ask! Evidently this is a very common problem!)

First 20/10 yesterday: Pulled up the carpet edge and used full strength hydrogen peroxide on the concrete, tackboard, pad. Watched it bubble and brew. Yuck. Used lots of paper towels to mop it up. Propped carpet up to let things dry out a bit over night.

Second 45/10 today: I’m going to haul out the carpet cleaner and use a vinegar/hot water solution on the carpet/pad using the small attachment.

Will report back….

Third 45/10 today:… that SO counted for exercise! Decided to use up the water/vinegar mix with some of my carpet shampoo to clean the rest of the hall.  OMG you wouldn’t believe the nasty water coming back up out of my carpet.  GROSS!

Was not overwhelmed with cat pee fumes today (unlike yesterday), so I think I’m making progress.  Will let the carpet, pad, & tack boards dry over several days and re-evaluate next weekend.

I’m going to reward myself now with a fountain Diet Pepsi (mmmm crushed ice and a bit of vanilla mmmm) and relaxation for the rest of the day!

My place smells strongly of cat! How can I get rid of the odor and make sure everything smells nice?
