I am unfucking little bits at a time instead of expecting to do one huge unfucking of the entire habitat--that would be overwhelming!--but I have a question. My DirecTV remote buttons are all nasty and brownish from use. Is there a way to clean them?

Q-tip, an old cloth, and rubbing alcohol. Carefully. Don’t let the surface get too wet, but the alcohol should evaporate quickly enough to avoid damage to the internal components.
ETA: I totally forgot the step where you take the batteries out first. Do that. Mea culpa.
