Terrifying motivation for lazy people with messy homes

First of all, Team UfYH, take your vitamins and drink your water. There’s an epidemic going on out there!

So, unfucking while sick. When you’re really sick, like stuck in bed, feverish, and can’t lift your head, make sure you have a clear suface like a nightstand within reach. Stock it with tissues, water, meds, and reading material. Make sure you have a trash can or trash bag also within reach so you can keep your infected mess contained.

If you’re well enough to be up for a little while, wash your dishes (wear gloves and use very hot water, please). Rest a little. Give the bathroom a quick wipedown. Rest a little. Make sure your clothes are making it to the hamper. Start a load of laundry if you have the energy. And as soon as you’re feeling better, wash your sheets and pillowcases.

Any tips for unfucking when sick?

Don’t push yourself. Keep a trash can, a laundry basket/hamper, and extra clean pillowcases handy. Just try to keep on top of the clutter you create: dishes, tissues, dirty clothes, etc. And try to take a bath or shower. It’s a lot of effort, but almost always worth it.

I developed a pretty debilitating cold last night which means I'm probably going to be out of commission for the next few days. Getting sick and having to stay in bed usually leads to a snowball of fuckery of clothes all over the place, an unmade bed among other things. Any tips on how to stop this cold from messing up all of my unfucking progress?

Within easy reach of your bed, you should have:

  • a trashcan
  • a laundry basket/hamper
  • a coaster on which to put your tea and water

Anything you use needs to be confined to those small areas. If you have enough energy for five minutes worth of exertion, consider putting the dirty clothes right into the washer and washing your dishes as soon as you’re done with them (to keep them from piling up and also to keep from recontaminating yourself).

Hope you’re feeling better soon!
